ALM Media a major publishing company retained WB Engineers to provide IT consulting services for its NYC relocation initiative. The project involves the consolidation from four existing sites into two new locations; one in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn.
WB consultants provided technology consulting services including cable infrastructure design and an analysis and evaluation of options for ALM to consider regarding Voice systems, LAN, WAN and carrier services for the new locations.
ALM expressed an interest in deploying Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) platforms and looked to WB’s technology specialists to understand ALM’s functional requirements and present a range of options which would meet them. WB performed a needs analysis through a survey of ALM’s existing technology environment as well as interviews with key ALM stakeholders to ensure an understanding the client’s future business strategies and objectives. In order to support this new platform, LAN and WAN infrastructure design were also reviewed and recommendations made for designs that would support a converged network and VoIP platforms. With the information gathered WB submitted a comprehensive Information Technology Needs Analysis document including its recommendations for the new sites to ALM Senior management.
ALM made a decision to deploy all new Cisco based IP platforms for the new locations and, as an indication, of its confidence in WB Engineering, retained them to assist with the planning and implementation phases of the relocation project.
