By moving to a new space of approximately 20,000 sq. ft., United Stations Radio Networks was able to consolidate their New York offices to one location. The new space consists of studio space and private recording rooms, in addition to executive offices and open-plan office space, conference rooms, a pantry/lunchroom, a server room, powder room, and a mechanical room.
The space included 17 studios and production rooms, with five of these areas being “live mic” rooms. Close coordination of the MEP design with the acoustic consultant and architect was required to minimize the transfer of noise between these spaces while maintaining the integrity of the architectural design. Our design included a 15 ton air-cooled, variable air volume type air conditioning system to support the studio/production areas and associated administration areas on normal and after hours operation. The MEP design was required to be completed within a limited time-frame due to the client’s scheduled move-in date.
